“My name isRichard John Roberts. I am the1993 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine.
I’ve had onlya littleexperience with Chinese medicine. But what I’ve had so far has beenreally very promising. Talking to physicians and talking to both olderandyounger physicians, I find that there is a dynamic in medicine in China atthemoment. People seem very eager to move forward to develop new treatments andalot is happening that is quite exiting. My one personal experience came fromtheneed to get a physical in order to get a Chinese visa. I went to a hospitalinWuxi. In there, I receive a physical in a very short period of time. Itwasdone very efficiently, very professionally, much more so than I haveusuallyencountered in the U.S. and I cameaway feeling that you must have a verygood hospital system in place. And at the same timeaside from the fact thatthis will be very good for medicine and for patienthealth, I especially likethe fact thatthere is a great deal of basic research that needs to be done inorder tounderstand how the human micro-bio contributes to human health.
Now, as youknow in later this year on May9th and 10th, the Nobel Prize Laureate Summitwill be held in Tianjin. This isa very exciting meeting and We have a lot ofNobel laureates going, wehave several academy members from around the world andthey will share with youthe latest advancements in cancer research.
Now, thisparticular conference is really avery good one , from the point of view ofdisplaying to the audience just whatis happening in cancer medicine at themoment, where are the leading breakthroughsand where might you find your placein order to pursue cancer research, if thatis what you want to do.
I think 2015 promises to be very excitingin medicine, in science. The Nobel Prize Star Awardsare particularlyimportant for finding China’s Nobel Prize winner.
We arelooking forward to joining teamswith you along with the involvement andparticipation that comes with it!
I amwishingyou a very happy Chinese New Year of the Goat.
